ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains General Ledger accounts by verifying, posting, and reconciling transactions
- Assists with financial quarter-close activities, procedures, journal entries and account reconciliations in compliance with deadlines set by leadership
- Investigates and analyzes inconsistencies in financial entries, then coordinates with other departments to gather information necessary to determine proper adjustments
- Performs analysis and calculations to ensures accuracy of allocations, accruals, prepaid expenses, and inventory
- Performs research and analysis on State of Wisconsin sales tax regulations to maintain the company’s tax compliance; communicates and coordinates all necessary changes across departments
- Leads review and maintenance of assets within Sage Fixed Asset System and reviews expenses for capitalization
- Assists with annual financial audit, including preparation of workpapers and financial statements
- Responsible for maintenance of internal controls through policies and procedures
- Ability to identify and create best practice procedures for accounting activities by recommending and implementing process improvements
- Maintain confidentiality of conversations and documents
- Contributes to special projects, as assigned, including providing back up to other positions within the Finance Team
- Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 3+ years of accounting experience.
- Associates degree in Accounting or Finance required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Self-starter with high level of professionalism
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all positions and departments
- Ability to effectively manage time and complete multiple tasks, while continually meeting critical deadlines and responding to changing priorities
- Demonstrates exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate, timely analysis
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products with an emphasis in Excel
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains preferred

WORK SCHEDULE
The Staff Accountant is a full-time position. Some evening and/or weekend hours may be required. Travel up to 10% of the time to our Onalaska or Green Bay Support Office and/or store locations.
